If you visit our login page, we may set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we may set cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies generally last for two days, and screen options cookies generally last for a year. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images, and articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We may use analytics tools on our website and within our mobile apps to understand usage, improve performance, fix errors, and enhance features. These tools may collect device information, identifiers, and usage events. Where required, we will request consent through cookie banners or app permissions.

Who we share your data with

We may share personal data in the following situations:

1) With service providers that help us run the service

Examples include website and app hosting, database and cloud storage, email delivery, text messaging delivery, push notification services, analytics, customer support tools, and security services. These providers process data on our behalf and are required to protect it.

2) With other people as part of reunification

If your pet’s tag is scanned, we may display the pet profile information you configured for finders. You control what information is shown on the public scan page and what contact methods are available.

3) For legal and safety reasons

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, and security, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

4) Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

How long we retain your data

1) Account and pet profile data

We keep this data while your account is active. If you request deletion, we will delete or de identify your data unless we must keep certain information for legal, security, or fraud prevention purposes.

2) Tag scan and alert records

We retain scan and alert records for a reasonable period to provide service history, prevent abuse, and support troubleshooting.

3) Comments (website)

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained indefinitely to help recognize and approve follow up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

1) Access the personal data we hold about you
2) Correct inaccurate information
3) Delete your personal data
4) Export your data in a portable format
5) Opt out of certain data uses where applicable

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you provided. You can also request that we erase personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

To make a request, contact us at our mailing address listed above or through the contact methods provided in the app or on our website. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

California privacy notice

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under California privacy laws, including the right to know what personal information is collected, used, disclosed, and shared, and the right to request deletion and correction, subject to certain exceptions. We do not sell personal information in the traditional sense. If we ever engage in sharing for cross context behavioral advertising, we will provide an appropriate opt out mechanism.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Our service messages may be routed through email, text messaging, and push notification providers in order to deliver alerts you request.

How we protect your data

We use a combination of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. These may include access controls, encryption in transit where supported, monitoring, and least privilege access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

What data breach procedures we have in place

We maintain internal procedures to investigate suspected incidents, mitigate harm, and notify affected users and regulators where required by law.

What third parties we receive data from

We may receive information from:
1) Service providers supporting authentication, messaging delivery, analytics, and hosting
2) App stores and operating system platforms (such as basic device and subscription status information where applicable)

What automated decision making and profiling we do with user data

We may use automated processing to trigger alerts, prioritize or suppress abusive scans, and route messages (for example, sending a scan alert immediately after a QR Code or NFC scan). We do not use automated decision making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.

Children’s privacy

The service is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date above.
